Newcastle-based duo Pelican Theatre present Kylie Jenner’s Private Jet, their premiere full-length production. Guilt, powerlessness, frustration, dread. A (sort of) comedy about the climate crisis - if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.

Combining movement, dark comedy, and theatre, Kylie Jenner’s Private Jet navigates the well-known wasteland of Gen-Z climate anxiety. Growing up being told the world is ending, and that it’s all our fault, how do we even begin to think about saving it? The show delves into those complex feelings and nonsensical decisions, with humour keeping us one step away from total nihilism (just about).

What power do we have as individuals in the face of climate collapse? What impact do our tiny actions have, compared to those of selfish celebrities and consumption on a global scale?

Through fresh, surrealist dance theatre, Kylie Jenner’s Private Jet boldly asks the question that keeps many of us up at night - what is the point?

Quotes from young people who took part in local co-creations in 2025

My time with Pelican Theatre has been an incredible experience from start to finish. I have thoroughly enjoyed their creativity and flexibility when it comes to understanding us as individuals, as well as their sense of having fun. I felt pretty much immediately comfortable around Pagan and Ellie, and I truly felt they were incredibly supportive of each and every one of us.”

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Pelican Theatre. They challenged and pushed me to my potential while also creating a safe and fun environment. I have learned a lot about myself since working with them.

Pelican have been really good at listening to us and working with how we prefer to move but also, they challenged us to work and move differently. They had fun engaging tasks and games that lifted our mood and helped us engage with the day. They helped me become more open minded and I'm glad I trusted the process because it all made sense by the end result.

Brave and brilliant. Needs to be seen by many more.

I really hope this tours again so I can bring more family and friends to see it. It’s so needed! This was for me true art - a way to make you look at the world in a different way and stick with you as you navigate your own life.

I loved how the language of dance was able to express the complexity of our relationships with climate change so well.”

The best dance show I’ve seen in years.

The project so far has been made possible thanks to the Gillian Dickinson Trust, Dance City and the Northumberland Dance Development Commission, as well as further funding from Arts Council England.

We wish to thank all the organisations and individuals involved in making this work happen, and supporting the development of a North East based company.
